2016 trends: Everything you need to know

Hi guys!

Okay 2016 is here a new year and all that, i know its the end of January and i’m a bit late with this but bare with okay, this will cover alot of content!

So by the looks of things this is what we are going ot be seeing alot of on our highstreets for the Spring and Summer this year:

70’s Suede is here to stay:

This time its more vibrant and colourful suede not just a camel or tan that we saw last year paired with tassels galore. Check out this skirt and wrap combo in dusty lilac, very chic.

(side note: lattice is still here to stay, whether it be a deep V neckline or a more recent and inventive approach in the form of a skirt^)

This for me carries a 90’s vibe, you know those pieces of material that tied at the side and nape of the neck exposing your entire back, making it impossible to wear a bra. yeah them. That kinda thing. But Jason Wu and Derek Lamb made it a little less teen and left more to be desired.

The surface of netting means Sports Luxe is back. And i cannot wait! Look at these gorgeous pieces from Alexander Wang and Simone Rocha SS16 collections. With khaki also? I just can’t even.

Lingerie all day:

Silk, satin, shiny slips, add some lace and lattice features. You got the sexiest new trend sorted. Whether you’re daring enough to pull it off in public is up to you, good luck its a tricky one! Check out Haider Ackermann and Calvin Klein’s versions.

Trends i’m not so keen to see the return of:

Marled knits, well its not really a return they have been on our high streets for ages now. they have had their time, they are over worn by every teenage girl with access to Topshop and Newlook. In grey, still grey. How dull, if its here to stay another season at least change up the colour side of things? Oh well maybe we will see the back of it next season? Or maybe its turned into a basic and will be here forever side by side with the basic white T.

Victorian florals. Maybe its just because i’m not big on florals in general i’m dreading this trend. However oriental florals managed to slip through the fashion fad stage unlike suede and tassels, maybe it will happen again. Hopefully.

Big earings. Dangly in geometric shapes with no real point to them other than to not match each other. Won’t catch on, im convinced.

Some other trends we are going to see this season:

Pleats – skirts, trousers, dresses, you name it, its pleated.

Paperbag waists – tied with a thin belt.

Fringing – Not tassels, i repeat not tassels, the slightly more dence little sister version.

tied everything – tied round the waist, shoulders, but luckily not those hideous skirts with fake arms that tied at the front.

Well guys thats my overview for SS16, leave a comment what your looking forward to or glad to see the back of?

Love, thekhakiqueen x
